Dear Parents/Carers and 2020 HSC Student body,
I write to provide you information about the plans our school has put in place to ensure this year’s HSC exams run as smoothly as possible for all students.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and the department have released guidelines for schools to conduct a COVID-19 safe HSC examination and put plans in place to minimise the chance of disruption.
I want to congratulate all our students, staff and their families for their incredible fortitude in what has been a challenging year for us all. We know our students have worked hard for the HSC and it is important that our exams proceed as planned.
The most important priorities for our students is that they keep studying, stay healthy and turn up for their exams on time. Attached to the letter is a copy of the exam timetable for our school including the exact room location for your child’s/your exam.
If your child has a pre-existing condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms, speak to your doctor/GP now and contact the school.
If on the day of the exam your child feels unwell with flu-like symptoms, they should stay home and get tested. It is important you visit the doctor and get a doctors certificate and be tested for COVID-19 as a precaution.
On the morning of each exam your child will be asked if they are unwell with flu-like symptoms. If your child says ‘yes’, they will not be able to sit the exam and will be asked to leave and seek medical attention. If you know your child is unwell it is better to keep them home.
We want all our students to sit their exams but sometimes events happen that are beyond our control. If your child is unwell and misses their exam please contact the school. Students who are unwell will be eligible for illness and misadventure and we will help you through this process.
We have also secured additional exam venues in the unlikely event that our school needs to close on the day of an exam. If there are any changes to exam details, we will communicate with HSC students/Parents/Carers through 0474 168 820. This will be the only source of communication for these types of notifications. If in doubt, please call the school.
Yours sincerely
Julie Tegart
